Newsletter #5

Hey there Texas Coastal Bend Blues Society members and blues fans!

Another busy couple of months for the Texas Coastal Bend Blues Society!

We had a couple of our member bands play at the 63rd Annual Texas Jazz Festival in October in Corpus Christi. Thousands of people come to the free event to see 60 bands every year.  Both the John Cortez Band and the FBI Blues Band were invited to play the event and both bands represented the TCBBS on different stages.

The John Cortez Band also played the first event at the SipYard in Port Aransas (a new member venue – by a member band) and the TCBBS hosted the event and paid the band to perform at the new venue!

Also, we have news for you…  We will be having the 3rd Annual Jak Payne Waterfront Blues Festival at Dorado’s at Conn Brown Harbor in Aransas Pass!  We had the 2nd Annual Jak Payne Waterfront Blues Festival there and it was a big success, and the venue would like us back to do it there again.  More bands and more blues coming your way on June 25th, 2025!

Bands wanting to play the festival just need to join the Society and book a paid slot before they are all gone!

Also (YES_THERE IS MORE!), the 2nd Annual Salsa Fest in Aransas Pass is November 23rd and 24th. Some of the bands in the 2 day line up are Blues Society bands and DNA Productions gave TCBBS the exclusive rights to sell beer and wine at the festival both days, so we will use the money we receive from that to add to the Jak Payne Scholarship Fund as well as put additions funds towards insurance and operating capital for 2025.

The Texas Coastal Bend Blues Society is successfully getting bands and venues together to spread the blues throughout the Texas Coastal Bend, so our plan is working!  We have helped member bands book a half dozen gigs for December already and the phone keeps ringing from venues wanting TCBBS bands.

Please Join as a member and donate any amount to help to keep the blues alive!  We have a lot planned for the rest of 2024 and 2025!
