Newsletter #4

Hey Blues Fans!
Once again, we had a good month for sign-ups. Several
members have joined the TCBBS family in the past month
including individuals and two new venues in the Texas
Coastal Bend.
The first venue is the Sip Yard, a big new outdoor venue in
Port Aransas, Texas. They have a great stage, a tremendous
3-story bar and multiple restaurants to choose from. Since
they have joined as a venue, they are in the process of
picking a date for the free gig they receive from one of our
member bands. Stay tuned for that!
The Salty Gull in Aransas Pass, Texas also recently signed
up. It is a uniquely large indoor/outdoor venue with great
food, bar, as well as its own video poker room. They have a
huge parking lot perfect for outdoor events, and we will be
doing our best to bring some blues to those events. Our
member band, The FBI Blues Band will be playing the Salty
Gull on Friday October 18 th as a live rehearsal party for
headlining at the Texas Jazz Festival, which runs October 18-
20. At the festival, they will be starting at midnight, on
Saturday night, at Heritage Park in downtown Corpus Christi
on the HEB Stage. They were invited back after bringing the
house down last year as the only blues band of 60 bands at
the Jazz Festival. The TCBBS will be well represented!

We are very grateful to those that have donated to the Jak
Payne Scholarship Fund, keeping the blues alive through
advanced education for blues and jazz students wishing to
take their music to the next level.
Finally, on September 7, which is just around the corner, the
TCBBS will be hosting the Aransas Pass Music Festival, held
at the Rialto Theater in Aransas Pass. A historic theater built
in 1937, it is a well-known venue and has been coined “The
South Texas Blues Epicenter” since it is a magnet for blues
bands. Talk about a great venue!
This festival is serving as a fundraiser for the Rialto Theater,
and to show appreciation for them allowing the TCBBS to
have our office there, the TCBBS has arranged for 10 bands
to donate a 1 hour set for the cause AND the one and only
Otis Terrell will be playing on the baby grand piano with
several special guests including K.D. Logan, Kimberly
Wiatrek, Rick Linn, and Antoinette Tozer to name a few, at
Steve and Lulu’s, the bar inside the theater where you can
eat, drink and watch the show. It will run from noon to 10 pm,
general admission is $10 and all proceeds go to maintaining
the Rialto so it can continue to be a premier venue in the
Texas Coastal Bend!
Thanks again for your support. Please Donate!
